Day 1: Polynesian Hostel

Random observations:
  • Waikiki is crazy touristy.
  • Tons of McDonalds and Starbucks.
  • People everywhere are super nice, we’ve already met 2 Canadians- one from Ottawa, one from Montreal.
  • Instead of baskets, people have surfboard holders on their bikes!

Probably the first time I’ll ever wake up on my own at 6:45am (11:45am Toronto time). We’re staying at the Polynesian Beach Club Hostel. The guy at the front desk has recommended a few places for us to check out.
On the list:
• Manoa Falls
• Diamond Head Crater
• Learn to Surf
• Honolulu Zoo
• See a Luau

Later:
Turns out, Diamond Head crater is closed for renovations!
WELL… we took the bus to Ala Moana Center, in the hopes of checking out Manoa Falls, but it turns out we were too late, and it would be too dark… so our “to do” list adjusted to include:
• Sitting on the beach
• Eating trailmix.

Beth and Marie arrive, exhausted at the Hostel

Hawaiian Airlines has a sweet logo
